• Chief of Schools Travis Motal shared the district and campus improvement plans.
• Superintendent Steven Snell provided updates to include upcoming events and Legacy Ranch High School mascot survey results.

    • Nov. 10 -- Veterans Day Flyover beginning at 9:30 a.m. Each campus will also have Veteran's Day ceremonies. Parents should check campus calendars for times.

• The Board approved seven firms as the primary LHISD Professional Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Design Service Pool as part of the 2023 Bond program as presented by Chief of Operations Mark Willoughby and Director of Construction Dustin Akin. 
• The Board approved 13 firms as the primary LHISD Professional Design Service Pool as presented by Chief of Operations Mark Willoughby and Director of Construction Dustin Akin. 
  
• The Board approved four firms as the primary LHISD Professional Environmental, Archeological and Civil Design Service Pool as part of the 2023 Bond Program  as presented by Chief of Operations Mark Willoughby and Director of Construction Dustin Akin.
• The Board approved five firms as the primary LHISD Professional Design of Safety and Security Systems and Audio-Visual Systems Service Pool as part of the 2023 Bond Program as presented by Chief of Operations Mark Willoughby and Director of Construction Dustin Akin.
• The Board approved six firms as the LHISD Professional Third-Party Observation and Material Testing Service Pool as part of the 2023 Bond program as presented by Chief of Operations Mark Willoughby and Director of Construction Dustin Akin.

We were notified this month that two of our high school students, Abby Parsons and Conrad Gerten, had perfect scores on their ACT exams last summer. We are proud of them and expect great things from them in the future.

Marissa Gonzales from TASB came and presented the award to Chief of Schools Travis Motal for outstanding district initiatives to keep students safe.

October is Principal Appreciation Month. LHISD is blessed to have the best principals in the state.

The entire student body of Sant Rita Middle School received a presentation from Superintendent Snell and VLK Architects on mascot possibilities. The students were then asked to complete a survey around the "cat family," alliteration, and a "ranch theme." Students could also choose independent mascots. Below are the results of the first meeting. 868 students joined in the survey. The second meeting will be held on Oct. 18 with student leaders to narrow down the choices and bring options to the Board.
